Abstract
This study concerns itself with the study of image rights in the sports and entertainment industries. It traces the origins of image rights in the South African jurisprudence and follows the development of image rights alongside technological advancements through the years.
It concludes by translating the observations on the development of image rights into recommendations that will assist in providing legal certainty.
